Day 1: Arrival in Arusha, Tanzania
Your East African safari adventure begins upon arrival in Arusha, Tanzania. This vibrant city, located at the foot of Mount Meru, serves as the gateway to Tanzania’s Northern Safari Circuit. Depending on your arrival time, you may have the opportunity to explore the town or relax at your lodge, soaking in the peaceful atmosphere.
In the evening, you will meet your safari guide for a briefing on the journey ahead. Arusha is an ideal starting point, offering a smooth transition into your exciting safari days.
Day 2: Serengeti National Park Game Drives
After an early breakfast, you will embark on a scenic drive or short flight to the famous Serengeti National Park, a wildlife haven and one of the most celebrated national parks in the world. Day 3: Full Day in Serengeti National Park
Today is dedicated to exploring the Serengeti in depth. After an early morning wake-up, you’ll set off on a game drive to catch the wildlife at its most active. Lions are often on the prowl during the cooler hours of the day, and you may spot cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas hunting in the open grasslands.
Throughout the day, your guide will take you to different parts of the park, including the central Seronera area and further afield to quieter areas where you can spot elephants, giraffes, and an array of birdlife. You’ll have the chance to see hippos wallowing in the rivers and crocodiles basking on the banks.
After a day full of wildlife viewing, you’ll return to your lodge or camp for dinner and a well-deserved rest.
Day 4: Serengeti to Entebbe, Uganda
After a final morning game drive in the Serengeti, you’ll make your way to the airstrip for a short flight to Entebbe, Uganda. Upon arrival in Entebbe, you’ll be transferred to your hotel to relax and enjoy the views of Lake Victoria, Africa’s largest freshwater lake.
Depending on your arrival time, you might visit the Entebbe Botanical Gardens or take a peaceful boat ride on Lake Victoria. Entebbe offers a perfect transition from the savannahs of Tanzania to Uganda’s diverse ecosystems, which you will explore in the coming days.
Day 5: Queen Elizabeth National Park Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Boat Safari
On day five, you’ll depart from Entebbe and head to Queen Elizabeth National Park, one of Uganda’s premier wildlife destinations. The journey takes you through Uganda’s scenic landscapes, including tea plantations, crater lakes, and the lush Rift Valley escarpment.
Upon arrival in Queen Elizabeth National Park, you’ll embark on an afternoon game drive to spot elephants, buffalo, lions, and a variety of antelope species. The park is home to over 95 mammal species, making it one of Uganda’s most diverse wildlife reserves.
Later in the day, you’ll enjoy a boat safari along the Kazinga Channel, a natural waterway that connects Lake George and Lake Edward. The drive to Bwindi will take you through rolling hills, local villages, and scenic landscapes, offering insight into rural Ugandan life.
Upon arrival in Bwindi, you’ll settle into your lodge on the edge of the forest. You can take a short nature walk to familiarize yourself with the area or relax in preparation for the following day’s gorilla trekking adventure.
Day 7: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Day seven is the highlight of your safari gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest! After an early breakfast, you’ll head to the park headquarters for a briefing on the trekking experience. Led by expert guides and trackers, you’ll embark on a trek through the dense forest in search of one of Bwindi’s habituated gorilla families.
The trek can last anywhere from 1 to 4 hours, depending on the location of the gorillas. Once you find them, you’ll spend an unforgettable hour observing the gorillas as they go about their daily activities playing, feeding, grooming, and interacting with each other. Watching these majestic creatures in their natural habitat is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
After the trek, you’ll return to your lodge to relax and reflect on the incredible encounter with one of the world’s most endangered species.
Day 8: Departure from Bwindi to Entebbe
On the final day of your adventure, you’ll depart Bwindi and make your way back to Entebbe for your departure flight. The drive back will take you through Uganda’s beautiful countryside, offering a final chance to soak in the stunning landscapes.
If time allows, you can enjoy a short city tour of Entebbe or visit local craft markets for souvenirs before heading to the airport for your flight home.
